chopped

So much for agonising over cutting the hair -- it's done. CHOPPED. Bye-bye. All it took was for my mum to drag me into Jean Yip after pacifying me with super spicy tori karaage ramen and a silver starfish. The guy was so appalled at my dandruff that he insisted I get a shampoo and a blow-dry as well. Then he slashed, snipped and cut. I brought the remnants home in a bag and my naughty mother put it on my father's table. I expect him to scream when he sees it.

I look strange. I met Yan Han in Tampines Mall and he didn't recognise me. I think he's still wondering who was the mad girl who waved in his face this afternoon. I kinda miss my long locks already, but it IS easier to wash my hair now.

Yo. You chopped off your hair, Rapunzel? Take a photo and let me see you with short hair or something. :D

As for your saddening $48 in-ear earplugs, I can only say "don't trust online reviews". The same goes for cameras by the way. Although they provide a rough assessment of what's hot and what's not, let's just say that most people who give those reviews (or even forumers) are pretty much your average Joes who don't know shit about music and hence, the importance of sound quality. So if you don't want to waste your money on a horrible camera, drop me a message and I'll get you some advice from my photographer brother.

Another thing I would suggest is, try scraping together more money if you want good earphones or cameras. As you can see, you pay peanuts you get money. Though the comfort (or lack thereof) of your in-ear earplugs is as Pong says- takes time for it to become comfortable. Partly you have to get used to it and partly you have to get it to wear off enough for the rubber/plastic to soften. Do your earplugs come with covers in different sizes, or are they fixed? Mine have rubber bits in different sizes so for more comfort (so long as they don't fall out- though to be honest they're likelier to fall out if they're too big rather than if they're too small) you should use the smaller ones. If not, well... you're well and truly fracked. (So if you EVER buy those in-ear earplugs again you'll know what to look for.)

If you've earned enough money (sell your locks for wigs and earn some) you might want to consider getting headphones instead (I mean the non-cheapskatey kind) like Grado or something. Sound quality-wise, you probably won't have anything to regret. Pocket-wise, you'll weep.

Are you thinking of getting a point-and-shoot for your camera, or going pro?

Ho Ho hullo XT! My SHORT HAIR is NOT NICE. I want my LONG HAIR back once my scalp is ready. I have a picture and I REFUSE to put it up in any public domain! If you want to see it you must catch me online, bah. Awful time-zone juggling.

About the earphones, the bungs did come in three sizes (it isolates all right). And (thanks to Grace) I made sure the nib was gold-plated and all that. I did SOME recceing before I bought my stuff! Ho ho and I settled on the pair I bought because they looked like the best I could get for my money. I was probably right too, sigh. If I wanted real sound quality (and a bleeding pocket) I'd have bought the Auvanas that sell for $499. They're heavy buggers but they isolate like a dream. You shove them on in a crowded shopping centre and suddenly you feel like you're in a room all by yourself. It's really marvellous. The sound quality is orchestral standard. If only I were willing to sacrifice my previous paycheck.

Hmm I already have a point-and-shoot for a camera (though actually it's my parents', bleah). I don't want to go pro without some preparation (and some spare money), but I probably will eventually. I really don't like the limited functions of a point-and-shoot! But I'll still probably get one in a loong time... and if I don't go overseas for university after all, I'm using my salary to buy an OVEN. =D
